This book is a new edition of Claude Debussy’s transcription for two pianos of Robert Schumann’s Six Studies in Canon Form, Op. 56, edited by Lucy Mauro and Scott Beard. The work had traditionally been performed on the organ and in transcriptions, until Debussy created this effective two piano work, which stays faithful to Schumann’s original pieces and distributes the material evenly between the two pianos.

Beard and Mauro were lifelong friends and colleagues, and not only had an extensive knowledge of this repertoire, they performed it frequently together on two pianos. This edition, printed in score form, includes historical information, performance suggestions, fingering, and other editorial information.

Following Scott Beard’s sudden and unexpected death in March of 2021, Lucy Mauro and Scott Beard’s partner of thirty-one years, Alan Gibson, collaborated to finish this work, and they published it in July of 2022. Foreword by E.L. Lancaster.
